Annealing is a kind of metal heat treatment technology by putting metal parts into different annealing furnaces to heat them slowly to a certain temperature and preserving heat for a period of time, then cooling them at appropriate speed (usually natural cooling, sometimes controlled cooling). The purpose is to soften the materials or workpieces that have been cast, forged, welded or cut, reduce hardness to improve plastic property and toughness to homogenize chemical components and remove residual stress or get expected physical property. Frequently-used annealing process includes complete annealing, spheroidizing annealing, isothermal annealing, recrystallization annealing, graphitization annealing, diffusion annealing and stress relief annealing. |
